Capcom unveiled a new trailer for Monster Hunter World: Iceborne at E3 2019. It provides a deeper insight into the new area of Frostfang Depths and more information about the new monsters.
What does the video show? In the video, we are taken through the snowy landscape of the Frostfang Depths. The narrator shares more background information about the new area that comes with the DLC Iceborne.
The new large monsters, arriving with the expansion for Monster Hunter World, can be seen in combat, and here there is new information as well. There are also smaller monsters that we have not encountered yet.
What does the new Iceborne video from E3 2019 reveal?
2 pieces of information about the area itself:
- Hunters freeze in the area, which lowers their stamina. However, pepper plants grow everywhere, allowing you to craft hot drinks.
- If you don’t have a hot drink, you can warm yourself in hot springs that appear throughout the area. However, lemur-skunks may join you.
6 pieces of information about the new monsters:
- The Beotodus resembles the Jyuratodus and has a similar attack pattern. It slithers through the deep snow and attacks hunters from hiding.
- The Banbaro behaves like a bulldozer and charges forward with its massive horns. It uproots entire trees with the help of its strong hind legs. It can also push rocks and use them for attack.
- Some monsters have adapted and changed to the cold. Among them is the “Screaming Legiana.” This ice monster now has even stronger ice attacks and new moves in store.
- Tigrex is described as particularly brutal. Tigrex is a fan favorite from older games, as it is such a fun challenge. The powerful roar of Tigrex, which throws hunters off balance, is particularly highlighted.

- The Nargacuga is also a fan favorite from older games, now making its way to Iceborne. This monster offers, just like Tigrex, a challenging fight.
- The narrator in the video wonders which old, familiar monsters might still come to Iceborne. We can definitely expect more “old acquaintances.” In the story trailer for Iceborne, the Glavenus was already mentioned.
2 pieces of information about the new base Seliana:
- There is a forge where you can craft weapons and equipment. This is, of course, no big surprise since it happens in every base in Monster Hunter. Capcom has already introduced new weapons, equipment, and moves from Iceborne.
- Seliana has a new kitchen chief, an older Palico lady who seasons a juicy roast in the trailer.

When is Iceborne releasing? The DLC will be released on September 6, 2019, on PS4 and Xbox One. PC players will have to wait until winter.
