A new Elder Dragon is arriving with the 4.0 update to Monster Hunter World. Her name is Lunastra the Flame Empress and she is the female counterpart to Teostra.Lunastra will appear on May 31 and will be part of the third free DLC.
Who is Lunastra? The Elder Dragon made her first appearance in Monster Hunter 2 and fights with the element of fire. Just like her male counterpart, Teostra, she generates a dangerous fire aura that shimmers in a royal blue. Lunastra is even more aggressive than Teostra and can influence her environment to her advantage.
Lunastra and Teostra are a powerful pair: The two Elder Dragons will be fought together and will combine their powerful attacks.
Lunastra’s weapons are getting new skills: You will be able to craft new armor and weapons from Lunastra. The material you obtain from Lunastra seems to react to materials from other monsters. The blacksmith was able to activate the new “Guts Skill” with a Bazelgeuse jewel, which adds a defensive capability to Lunastra’s weapons.
A new form of tempered Elder Dragons is coming: The arrival of Lunastra signals a change in the ecosystem in the new world. Reports of even more powerful tempered Elder Dragons are emerging. These are referred to in English as “Arch-Tempered Elder Dragons.”

There is still no information available about the stats of the armors. However, there are already images of the sets that are elegantly blue and worthy of a Flame Empress.

Update 4.0 brings the Lifesaver Mantle and other changes
The third free expansion has a new special tool: The Lifesaver Mantle negates damage from powerful attacks through automatic dodging.
Lunastra update is coming tonight!
The 4.0 update will be released tonight around midnight. This means the patch will come on the night of May 30 to May 31.

These adjustments are also coming with the update
- Unlock investigations for tempered monsters: If you hunt tempered monsters or break one of their parts, you will now discover investigations for tempered monsters.
- Cosmetic adjustments: You can now change the color of armor pieces and decorative armor pieces at all item boxes in Astera and the research base. The training area is an exception.
- More love for Poogie: It is now easier to successfully pet Poogie.
- Scoutfly camera: The camera will no longer be forced by scoutflies when you arrive at the camp at the beginning of a quest.
