Capcom has unexpectedly announced a beta test for Monster Hunter World: Iceborne exclusively for the PS4. Only players with a PS Plus subscription will be able to enjoy it.
What is going on with MHW: Iceborne? Capcom has announced the start date of the first beta tests for the Iceborne expansion.
The tests will take place on the next two weekends:
- From June 21 to June 24
- And from June 28 to July 1
The start and end of the test are both at 12 PM noon our time.
Who can participate in the beta? The beta tests are exclusively for the PS4. Starting June 21, only players with an active PS Plus subscription will be able to test the beta. From June 28, everyone will be able to join in.
Where can I download the beta? The Iceborne beta can now be downloaded from the PS Store. Just search for “Iceborne” and add it to your shopping cart.
However, you do not need to own the base game to participate in the beta. Get it from the PS Store and as long as you have a PS+ subscription, you can play.

What are the contents of the beta? The beta appears to be identical to the one that visitors of E3 2019 could try out. There are three hunting quests where you can fight the following monsters:
You will have all kinds of weapons available to you. Additionally, in the E3 demo, you could also test the “Clutch Claw” mechanic, which allows you to pull yourself towards the monsters and cling to them.
Other platforms will have to wait a little longer.
