In the new trailer for Iceborne, four new monsters for Monster Hunter World have been introduced. These new creatures are part of the DLC. One of them is also a big fan favorite.
These new monsters have been revealed: During the Spring Update reveal, developer Capcom released a new trailer and new gameplay for Iceborne, the major DLC for Monster Hunter World.
There, alongside some smaller creatures, four new monsters are introduced that you will face. We will present these monsters to you.
The new Elder Dragon Velkhana
What we know about Velkhana: The Elder Dragon Velkhana is a completely redesigned monster for the Iceborne DLC.
Much is not yet known about this icy dragon. However, the developers confirmed that Velkhana is intended to be the flagship of Iceborne, just as Nergigante was for the main game. It will be the so-called “flagship monster.”
Velkhana uses ice attacks, but according to the developers, there will be a twist in the fight. No further information was provided on this.
Banbaro
What we know about Banbaro: Banbaro is a completely new monster that you will encounter relatively early in Iceborne. It is a fighting wyvern with huge antlers. Other fighting wyverns include monsters like the infamous Daemonjho.
Banbaro is a herbivore and one of the more peaceful creatures. It roams around, occasionally bathing in hot springs or drinking their water. You can also observe Banbaro sunbathing.
In battle, it charges at you and uproots everything in its path. This allows the monster to hurl boulders and even entire trees at you.
Now and then, Banbaro gets into conflicts with other monsters, and there will naturally be territorial fights again. Just like with the next monster.
Beotodus
What we know about Beotodus: It is one of the first larger monsters that you will encounter in Iceborne and is also completely new to the series.
This carnivorous monster “swims” through the snow and behaves similarly to the Jyuratodus. It can completely bury itself and sneak up for an ambush attack.
To take down this monster, you first need to figure out how to lure it out of the snow.
Banbaro and Beotodus overlap in their habitats, which is why they will frequently cross paths and engage in territorial fights.
Nargacuga
What we know about Nargacuga: Nargacuga is a new monster for Iceborne and MHW, but it should be familiar to series veterans. This monster first appeared in Freedom Unite. It has always been one of the biggest fan favorites.
Nargacuga is expected to appear in Iceborne around the middle of the story. In the new world, this monster has carved out its own place. It uses quick, vicious attacks and can dash forward unexpectedly.
Nargacuga also has a few new tricks up its sleeve. The creators have combined the old, characteristic move set of the monster with the style of Monster Hunter World and incorporated some new maneuvers. You can find more information on Nargacuga on the Monster Hunter Wiki.

There are likely more new monsters in Iceborne, but Capcom is probably saving these for future announcements. They aim to unveil more news before the release.
When is the release of Iceborne? The DLC releases on PS4 and Xbox One on September 6. Capcom is also working on a Steam release later this year, which will not be before Winter 2019.
