Players are having performance issues with Monster Hunter World on PC. The game heavily taxes the CPU. A fan mod promises higher FPS. However, there is a risk of a ban by Capcom.
What kind of mod is this? Player Kaldaien has taken the time to develop a mod for Monster Hunter World. It modifies how Monster Hunter World utilizes the CPU. In theory, this should increase the frame rate and make the game run smoother overall.
According to players, the mod improves performance somewhat. Those who want to try the mod can easily install it themselves.
Here’s how to install the mod for better FPS:
- Download the Visual C++ 2017 runtime from the Microsoft page and install it. If you already have it installed on your computer, you can skip this step.
- Download the required files from the page Github. The file is named SK_MHW.7z. You can find it under the “Miscellaneous Binary Dumps” section.
- Extract the archive into the folder “steamappscommonMonster Hunter World”. You can remove the mod by simply deleting the added files.
- You can now start Monster Hunter World.

The mod also includes the following features:
- Issues with fullscreen are resolved.
- The HUD can be hidden for screenshots.
Use at your own risk
You could be banned. Especially for players with not-so-good PCs, the mod is currently the only way to play Monster Hunter World smoothly. They rely on the mod. However, since the mod modifies game files, there is a risk of being banned by the publisher, developer Capcom.
Using the mod is therefore at your own risk. It is uncertain how Capcom will respond.
