What are tempered monsters? Every monster in the game also has a tempered variant. These are tougher versions of the monsters that can also provide you with new loot. You can recognize them by the scars and a purple frame around their symbols.
In addition to monster materials, you can also obtain Artian materials for the endgame weapon type and decorations through these quests.
How do I unlock tempered monsters? You just have to follow the main story until you reach chapter 4-3. There, the quest From Sparks and Thorns
appears, where you need to take down your first tempered Lala Barina.
Once you have completed the quest, you unlock tempered monsters. You will then see them on the map and can even see what kind of reward you will receive for taking down the monster.
However, you do not directly unlock all monsters as tempered versions. The 6-star monsters are unlocked after the mission Ice Cold Vortex
in chapter 5-1.
The 7- and 8-star quests become available after the last main quest What Lies Ahead
in chapter 6-1.
