Looking at Rompopolo, one initially doesn’t know what to make of it. It appears like a strange, inflated creature with spikes and a peculiar tentacle. The design looks simultaneously inconsistent and oddly fitting.
However, when encountering him in battle, the whole picture unfolds into a package that is very special compared to most other monsters. Not only does he visually stand out, but his mechanics also possess something that has never been seen in any Monster Hunter before.
Especially his gas-filled body offers him many exciting opportunities to influence the battle. He can poison his hunters with breath mist, strike enemies with his tongue, and use a concentrated stream of poisonous gas as a ranged attack. He also uses his tail like a mace to hit his foes.
His spikes are not only for stabbing. They can also push gas into oily ground, causing numerous gas explosions. Once all his gas has escaped, he looks like a shriveled raisin.
This combination and the atmosphere that the monster creates in its fight make Rompopolo our number 1 of the new monsters.
