One of the strangest bugs was recently found in Monster Hunter Wilds. Because of it, you have better performance in certain places if you own more DLCs. The developer plans to release a patch next week to hopefully fix these issues.
What exactly happens with the bug? Reddit user de_Tylmarande shared a discovery with players and noted that he has better performance the more DLCs he owns. He supported his theory with further tests.
Due to this bug, there are significant FPS drops in the hubs, i.e., the places where many players are present at the same time and several NPCs are available for different actions. Outside the hubs, the FPS drops are said to be less noticeable.
What do the experts say about it? Digital Foundry, the experts in video game analysis on YouTube, have also addressed the issue. They found that the bug occurs as soon as the player speaks to an NPC in a hub that sells the DLCs via Steam. Afterwards, it is continuously checked which DLCs the player owns.
In his Reddit post, the user provided an update, stating that Capcom had contacted him and wanted to fix the bug.
Capcom plans a patch only for Steam
What kind of patch is this? In December 2025, Capcom announced a small roadmap for Title Update 4. The first update was released in the same month and was able to improve performance. Now, on January 28, 2026, the next patch from Title Update 4 will arrive and is specifically for the Steam version (x.com).
Capcom states the following: “This patch will include optimizations for Steam-specific processes as well as options to reduce processing load. Additionally, the presets will be reviewed.”
Whether these optimizations address the DLC bug has not been confirmed by Capcom. Furthermore, the developer noted that an additional patch for all platforms will be released on February 18, which aims to further improve performance.
Players urge Capcom to address the bug: The X user Natura thinks that the bug will be fixed with this patch, stating: “Oh God, so this DLC bug thing is really real.” Other users point out to him that the patch for January was already announced in December 2025, before the Reddit user discovered the DLC bug.
Many other users demand under the X post that Capcom finally addresses the elephant in the room and should release an official statement on the matter.
With Title Update 4, several new contents have arrived for Monster Hunter Wilds. Among other things, the monster Gogmazios, an Elder Dragon from Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate, is now available.
