Does Monster Hunter Wilds have crossplay? In the previous installments, there was no crossplay, but this changes with Monster Hunter Wilds. You can play together with people on all available platforms.
The game is available on Steam, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S, and here’s what you can set:
- Players can play together with other players on all available platforms
- Crossplay can be turned on or off
- Players can also add players from other platforms as friends
How to enable crossplay
If you want to play with players from other platforms, you can find the settings for it under Options > Game Settings > Crossplay. However, you can only do this in the main menu, not in a lobby.
If crossplay is disabled, you can only experience Monster Hunter Wilds with players who are playing on your platform.
You have the option to turn the crossplay feature on or off. When crossplay is enabled, you can play with players from all supported platforms. They must also have crossplay activated. All content of the game is available to you without restrictions.
Additionally, you can adjust the platform permissions when searching for participants to limit the search to all or just your own platform – but this is only possible with crossplay enabled.
If you are looking for emergency beacons, you can specify whether you want your platform or all platforms.
Can you also play the story in crossplay? You can also play the story in crossplay with your friends. However, there are some other obstacles, apart from the different platforms. Is there cross save, cross progression, or cross buy?
Is there cross save in Monster Hunter Wilds? Anyone who wants to hunt monsters on multiple platforms will be disappointed. Capcom also commented on cross save. They state that saved data (progress or purchased DLCs, for example) is organized separately by each platform.
Thus, it is not possible to offer cross save, cross buy, or cross progression on multiple platforms. If you want to play on multiple consoles, you have to create a new character each time. If DLCs are released later, you would also have to purchase them twice if you want to have them on each platform.
Note that some online-exclusive content (such as online multiplayer) on consoles requires a PS Plus or Game Pass Core membership.
