Equipment and accessories play a significant role in Monster Hunter Wilds. The developers have now confirmed a change to the decorations that many fans are celebrating. For veterans, it is another confirmation that their concerns were justified.
What change is being referred to? In an interview with IGN, the developers of Monster Hunter Wilds referred to an adjustment in the decorations among other things. These are items that can be used in weapons and armor to bestow them with special abilities.
Director Yuya Tokuda stated:
Currently, decorations resemble the system in World, where decorations have specific abilities. These abilities are still activated by placing them in weapon or armor slots (in Wilds, weapon and armor abilities can be activated separately). However, decorations with only one skill can be crafted using something like alchemy. So in [Wilds], players no longer have the problem of never being able to obtain a specific skill.
Accordingly, it is now possible to craft decorations with single abilities. The change makes it easier and quicker for players to acquire desired skills. In previous games, obtaining decorations depended on the loot you could gather from defeated monsters.
“Thank God for that!”
The community is excited: On Reddit, user ShadowZael shares his thread with the exclamation “Thank God for that!” and is thrilled. Because of the change, his desired build is no longer necessarily dependent on loot luck. It is now possible to specifically target and craft skills, making it easier to work with various builds.
Among them are many like-minded individuals who are pleased with the new possibilities:
- NeonArchon responds via Reddit: “This is great news. It means you can get really good builds early on and then min-max them with the RNG grind.”
- YoGoobs responds via Reddit: “I’m happy about this because I think min-maxing is fun when it’s something extra and not a requirement for base strength.”
However, among them are also some who already fear that veterans will not like this change.
Why might veterans not like this change? Veterans have long expressed concerns that Monster Hunter Wilds might become too easy. The developers have already addressed this fear, confirming that the difficulty level has not been fundamentally adjusted, but that the game is made more accessible.
Nevertheless, there is some criticism from veterans regarding various features, as they found Monster Hunter World basically too easy and Monster Hunter Wilds will be modeled after that. The change to decorations could, in the opinion of fans on Reddit, further fuel this fear among veterans (via Reddit).
With the ability to craft decorations with a single skill, it is a relatively small feature. Monster Hunter Wilds has several more that will have a far greater impact on gameplay. To read about the best ones, click here: 8 new features that make Monster Hunter Wilds better than its predecessors
