Monster Hunter Wilds is out, but some players already want to modify their game and install mods. Is that even possible, and if so, how? We show you the resources for that, the best mods, and whether there is a danger of a ban.
Can you mod Monster Hunter Wilds? As in the predecessor to Monster Hunter, you can also mod in Wilds and customize the game to your needs. From cosmetic mods to cheats, anything is possible. However, these mods are unofficial and were neither developed nor tested by the developer – so you act at your own risk when installing such mods.
Also, note that currently, unless Capcom releases its own mods, only PC players can enjoy the mods. PlayStation and Xbox players are left empty-handed. If you want to install mods, you need to know how to do it. We now show you the best resources for installing mods and especially which ones are worth it.
The best mods for Monster Hunter Wilds
Which mods are worth it? Many mods have been released since the release, but not all are worth it. Depending on your needs, you have to decide which mods you need or should ignore. If you are unsure, we show you some of the best mods you can download:
- REFramework (via nexusmods.com)
- Mod that requires many other mods. Contains fixes for crashes, performance issues, and adjustments for your UI.
- MHWilds Overlay (via nexusmods.com)
- Gives you various info as an overlay on your travels. This includes the buildup of status effects and the display of the health bar of the monsters you hunt.
- Wilds OPTIMIZER FPS BOOST (via nexusmods.com)
- Increases your FPS by 10 and reduces the load on your CPU by 10% – 15%.
- Unlimited Character and Palico Edits (via nexusmods.com)
- You can change the appearance of your character and Palico for free.
- 3x Monster Drops (via nexusmods.com)
- The drops from monsters are tripled.
- Auto Item Pouch Restock (via nexusmods.com)
- Automatically restocks your item pouch when you visit a camp, start a mission or use the Saikrii bag.
Are there trainers? Yes, there are also trainers for cheats, but you should know which platform you download them on before installation. Nexus Mods is trustworthy, but unfortunately, we can’t recommend any trainers.
Installing mods – Where can I find them and can I get banned?
Where can I find mods? The currently best and only resource for mods is Nexus Mods (via nexusmods.com). On the platform, you can already find 426 mods for various things (as of March 10, 4:00 PM) – and the trend is rising.
How do I install mods? In general, we cannot give you an answer because each mod and each cheat has to be installed differently. But don’t worry, because the modders provide you with both the function of the mod and instructions on how to proceed with the installation.
However, be warned, as these instructions are usually in English and often require further installations of programs to function.
If you have difficulties with the installation, you can mostly find tutorials on YouTube. Or you can directly ask the modder on Nexus Mods for assistance.
Can I get banned for using mods? With the first title update, Capcom will now change its strategy regarding restrictions against cheaters and players who use mods. In a new post, it was stated that players, especially in the leaderboards, can expect consequences. You can find out more about it here: Monster Hunter Wilds finally speaks out about cheaters – Players can also be punished, even if they don’t use mods themselves
