The highlights of the week:

World of Warcraft is getting housing, which was one of the biggest news for MMORPGs in recent years. Now first players outside of Blizzard have been able to take a look at the feature and are excited.
The developers of WoW have borrowed a bit from other MMOs for housing. They openly admit: WildStar was an inspiration.

For Final Fantasy XI, the celebrations for the 23rd anniversary are coming up (via playonline.com). In an interview about the milestone, producer and director Yoji Fujito revealed that they actually planned to shut down the MMORPG service in 2024 and transition to a pure maintenance mode. Thanks to the continued support of the fans, that did not happen (via automaton-media.com).

What else has happened? Since the Kickstarter boom in the 2010s, there have been a number of developers who wanted to finance their MMO(RPG) through crowdfunding. But which games have actually been released? MeinMMO has done the accounting after 13 years and drawn a frustrating balance.
