Publisher Gameforge has talked about how you will get updates and expansions in the MMORPG Sword of Legends Online (SOLO) and what the situation is with Pay2Win.
What is SOLO? The MMORPG Sword of Legends Online focuses on story and quests, targeting fans of theme park MMORPGs. There are dungeons and raids, housing and world bosses, as well as PvP, which runs separately.
It is a Buy2Play game, for which you pay between 40 and 100 euros depending on the package. In an in-game shop, you will find cosmetic items that allow you to customize your hero.
You create your hero based on 6 classes and level up through fights and quests, which make your character stronger and grant new skills.

You will get new content in SOLO for free
How will new content be distributed? Since SOLO is a Buy2Play MMORPG, the question arose about how addons and additional content will be released. Will the publisher Gameforge possibly charge for this?
Gameforge has clarified this now. It was stated that the current plan is to release new content such as updates, additional classes, and expansions for free. So you will not have to pay extra, and no one will be excluded from new content.
This aligns Sword of Legends Online with the model of Black Desert Online, which is regularly expanded with free content such as new areas or classes.
When will the updates be released? Regular updates are supposed to be released every few weeks. There is no exact schedule. For larger expansions, such as the increased level cap that exists in China, you will have to wait a bit longer.
What about a Battle Pass and Pay2Win? SOLO will get a Battle Pass, which will start only after the launch of the MMORPG. In the Battle Pass, you will find cosmetic items, just like in the in-game shop. There should be no Pay2Win items. EXP boosts, for example, have been explicitly excluded.
Generally, cosmetics play a significant role in SOLO. Players should have many options to customize their characters. Additionally, a wardrobe system will be implemented, allowing you to change and adjust your hero’s appearance very easily.
What other information was shared in the new livestream?
- The current running alpha is under an NDA, the beta is supposed to function without an NDA
- After the beta, progress will be completely reset
- There is one server in EU and one in NA
- There are no random elements when upgrading equipment
- There are no tickets that restrict multiple visits to dungeons, but you only receive “meaningful rewards” – that is, the important and good rewards – once a day or per week (depending on the dungeon)
What do you think about Sword of Legends being financed purely through cosmetic items and that content updates and expansions will also be free?
