Users have complained about the high load on hardware from New World on various pages. There are even reports of broken RTX-3090 graphics cards. Now, the manufacturer has spoken out, where players had complained about broken graphics cards.
This is the situation: We at MeinMMO reported that some New World players complain that the beta of the MMORPG is damaging their hardware. This was mainly about GeForce RTX-3090 graphics cards.
Many users criticized that the temperatures and the load on the hardware are very high, for example in the queue or in the main menu. And this, even though New World has relatively low system requirements.
In the meantime, the developers from Amazon Game Studios explained that they have implemented a hotfix: The update is supposed to cap the FPS in the main menu, without causing performance issues in the game.
However, they have not seen problems or indications of widespread issues with 3090s, neither in the beta nor during the alpha tests. Furthermore, Amazon stated that the closed beta is “safe to play”.
What has happened now? Now the manufacturer EVGA has spoken out and given a clear statement. Because some users had claimed that their broken graphics cards were from EVGA. The statement should now reassure affected players whose graphics cards have indeed been damaged by New World.
However, it is still unclear how many graphics cards are actually affected, as there are currently no reliable numbers or facts other than various reddit posts complaining about their broken graphics cards (via reddit.com).

Nevertheless, for many gamers, the RTX 3080 is the better option than an RTX 3090. Especially if you are only playing in Full HD or WQHD. The GeForce RTX 3080 delivers about 15% less performance but is officially available at a significantly lower price than the RTX 3090.
If you can get the GeForce RTX 3080 Ti near the MSRP, the Ti version might even be an even better option than the regular RTX 3080.
The MSRP for the GeForce RTX 3090 is already set at 1549 euros, which is more than twice as high as for the popular GeForce RTX 3080, which officially costs “only” 729 euros.
