With the patch on June 8, Black Desert received PvP arenas. In these, you do not fight with your gear from the open world, but receive special PvP gear. This eliminates the advantage that many grinders otherwise have in PvP. Accordingly, the new arena is well received.
What is this new feature in PvP? The major highlight of the new update is the Arena of Solare, where you fight 3v3 against other players:
- As a team, you try to win three out of five rounds. A round lasts a maximum of three minutes. If a team is not completely defeated during this time, the team with the higher percentage of health points wins.
- In the arena itself, you have special equipment. This can be saved in different templates and improved over time.
- Potions, buff food, or other consumable items cannot be used in the arena. Higher levels also do not provide a stat advantage.
- Overall, healing through abilities in the arena is reduced by 50%.
- The arena can be entered automatically via a match search.
- At the start, there are three different battlegrounds in random selection. All matches take place here. In the arenas, there are side objects such as a healing orb or a torch, which increases attack power for 30 seconds.
Immediately at the start, there is a pre-season with a leaderboard. Everyone starts with 1,150 points and you gain points for victories and lose points for defeats or if you do not play in the arena for several consecutive days. The highest rank – Solare Incarnate V – requires 2,401 points or more.
What is the requirement to enter the arena? You need level 60 and completion of the Succession/Awakening quests to participate in the PvP fights in the Arena of Solare. How you can quickly reach level 60, we reveal in our level guide.
In addition, there is currently a time restriction. The arena is only accessible from 5:00 PM to 12:00 AM, and you cannot use seasonal characters for this.

“Finally, the day has come when we can enjoy the fights in BDO”
How does the equipment work exactly? In the previous PvP content like outpost battles, the “Red Battlefield” or open-world PvP, equipment plays a crucial role. Those who grind a lot or spend real money on upgrades are significantly stronger than any newcomer or any veteran who doesn’t invest as much time.
In the new PvP arena, you receive special equipment that only works there. At the beginning, you have access to basic stats and crystals. Over time, you collect the new currency Seals of Solare, with which you can unlock new equipment and new crystals.
This new equipment offers different effects or enhances different attributes.
How is the arena being received? Really well. Both on reddit and on YouTube, players are praising it highly. This is mainly due to the standardized equipment:
- Cynikuu can hardly believe his luck on reddit: “Is finally the day come when we can enjoy the action fights in Black Desert without spending 12 hours a day grinding mobs in circles? Truly a miracle!”
- The player Original_HD has already had good experiences: “I have enjoyed every match so far, even with people who didn’t know how to play PvP… Please, dear experienced players, don’t be too toxic towards new players entering the PvP scene. We want this to be big so that Pearl Abyss recognizes the interest of the BDO community in PvP.”
- The user LordBaneGaming writes on YouTube: “Finally. I have been saying for years that Black Desert needs the following: balanced equipment. Hooray!”
What do the critics say? Criticism has mainly been directed at individual bugs and the low rewards in the arena. Additionally, some players find the strong crowd control effects in the game annoying. However, these are also experienced in other PvP content of Black Desert.
What do you think about the new PvP arena? Does the concept appeal to you, and could you imagine starting or returning to Black Desert for this? Feel free to write it in the comments.
Just in April, the MMORPG received a new expansion that had a lot to offer, especially for newcomers and PvE fans:
Black Desert is becoming more of a theme park MMORPG with the new expansion, and that is great
