With a new video, the MMORPG Ashes of Creation showcases the Mage in action. The community loves it, but also has some comments.
What can be seen in the video? After recently showing a boss fight, one of the classes is now in focus. The Empyrean Mage is an important class in the MMORPG Ashes of Creation. As a damage dealer, he deals a lot of damage. In the video, we see some of his spells. These include:
- Fireball – The classic that deals damage to a target
- Lightning Bolt – A bolt that hits all enemies in its path
- Black Hole – A black hole that sucks in enemies
- Drain Essence – With this spell, the Mage drains life from the enemy and converts it to mana
- Blink – A teleport spell that allows the Mage to instantly relocate
- Lava Storm – The Mage creates a lava field that damages anyone within it
- Meteor Storm – Three meteors fall from the sky and cause area-of-effect damage
- Prismatic Beam – The energy beam can be directed at a target and deals a lot of damage
How that plays out will be revealed in the Alpha 1, which is set to start in April 2021.
Cool animations for the Mage, or maybe a bit too much?
What stands out in the video? Two things catch the eye immediately:
- The effects look stunning. Sometimes it sparkles and flashes all over the screen. However, there are concerns from the community whether it might be a bit too much of a good thing.
- The Mage also seems to be an acrobat – The Mage bounces, jumps, and spins very frequently while casting, which might be a bit atypical for this class.

However, some fans of Ashes of Creation also express concern:
- Cayo jokingly comments on the animations: ‘If you actually wanted to be an acrobat, but your father sent you to wizard school…’
- Ronni Anders writes: ‘This looks cool, but there are way too many particles. Just imagine a party with a tank, a healer, and four Mages. That would create a particle spam – especially if you were fighting against other Wizards.’
- iKnappr says: ‘I’m not a big fan of the fireball animation, the spin just adds unnecessary time to the animation and doesn’t look that great.’
