The MMORPG Ashes of Creation will allow more players to participate in the game’s “Alpha One.” However, Creative Director Steven Sharif emphasizes that this should be considered carefully.
When does Alpha One start? The official Alpha phase of Ashes of Creation has been postponed several times. While tests have been ongoing for some time, they are under NDA – which means testers are not allowed to share insights.
The “Alpha One,” from which content can be shown, is now scheduled to start on June 1st and run for one month following the latest postponement. Before that, there is also a preview week that is NDA-free, planned from May 14th to May 21st.
However, the keys for the Alpha could not be secured from the shop recently, for which backers had partly paid over 450 Euros. This is expected to change soon, as Steven Sharif noted in a recent post.
Alpha participation should not be regarded as “playing a game”
This is what Sharif says: In his post, the Creative Director discusses the progress of the recent tests. Among other things, work has been done on stability and performance, network issues have been resolved, and a stress test has been conducted. Now they have a more stable test client, and further tests are planned as the NDA-free phase approaches.
Part of this is the “Alpha One,” for which there will soon be participation options again: “I know that we have received a considerable number of inquiries regarding the reopening of the Alpha One sales in recent months,” emphasizes Sharif. They plan to unlock new Alpha One options “sometime in May,” with more information to be announced at the end of April. How much the keys will cost this time remains open for now. In 2018, there were already accesses for Alpha One, which cost $500 and up. However, one should apparently think carefully about whether to participate.
However, I want to issue a serious warning – participating in our Alpha One test should not be regarded as playing a game. You are helping to test our ongoing work.

According to Sharif, testers are expected to provide feedback and help improve the systems. “So if you plan to participate, take this commitment seriously and know that you have our respect and appreciation. This will not be for everyone,” says the Creative Director.
You should not expect a finished game in the Alpha: “It goes without saying that this is our Alpha One, and therefore you will not see a finished game, quite the opposite. You will see a work-in-progress, with bugs and significant optimizations still to be made. Additionally, many systems and features are not yet implemented or are only in their core form.”
One should also prepare for this when first seeing the game – when the time comes – in streams or similar.
