The developers of the MMO shooter Warframe have announced a new version of the title that could potentially attract a new audience. In addition, fans can soon expect a major update.
What kind of version is this? Developer Digital Extremes has announced a mobile version for their MMO shooter Warframe, which continues to enjoy great popularity. This is set to be released on February 18, 2026, initially available only for Android phones.
Megan Everett from Digital Extremes justifies this step as follows:
With the upcoming release on Android devices, we are one step closer to making Warframe playable on all platforms of the current generation. It has always been our goal to make Warframe as accessible as possible. Our game has something for everyone, and this is the next big step to share the Warframe experience with new Tenno around the world.
The Android version will support crossplay, so players on other platforms can play together. There will also be cross-save, meaning you will be able to access your game data regardless of the device.
All about the mobile version and the next update
Who can play Warframe on mobile? Basically anyone who owns an Android device equipped with the following system requirements:
- 64-bit system on ARM64 processor
- Android OS 12.0 or higher
- Min. 4 GB RAM
The regular release is on February 18, but a test phase is already running in Canada from February 11, during which it can be played.
Anyone who downloads the new version to their device and logs in during the game by March 4, 2026, will receive the “Cumulus” collection, which includes cosmetic weapons, armor, and resource boosters. Pre-registration for the mobile version via the Google Play Store is already online. You can find all information about it on the official website of Warframe.
What kind of update is coming as well? In March 2026, the update “The Shadowmaker” will be released for all available platforms. One of the highlights is a new Warframe named Follie, who is now the 64th in the game.

Another version of the game is already in the works: Warframe will be released in the first quarter of 2026 for Nintendo Switch 2 and is expected to run at smooth 60 FPS and 1080p in handheld mode on the console.
