The new MMO shooter Defiance 2050 is an old acquaintance. A completely renewed Defiance plans to release in summer 2018 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One. It seems Trion Worlds wants to give it another shot.
Defiance was the MMO shooter before Destiny made the genre popular
Defiance was released in 2013 as a sci-fi shooter for PlayStation 3, PC, and Xbox 360. It was an MMO shooter, but in the third-person perspective. It came a year before Destiny made the genre truly popular in autumn 2014 as a first-person shooter.
Defiance was set in a post-apocalyptic world and was tied to a science-fiction series. However, the TV series was canceled in October 2015.
Even the free-to-play shooter has somewhat faded from memory in recent years. While Destiny made the genre popular, Trion Worlds stated at first, “That’s great for us. Destiny is pushing the genre forward, and we benefit from it.” However, there hasn’t been much heard from that in recent years.
With the rise of current-gen consoles PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, the star of Defiance has visibly declined.
Defiance 2050 aims to make fans and new players happy
Now Trion Worlds wants to take another chance in 2018 and brings the shooter “completely renewed” to the current consoles PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. A release for Defiance 2050 is announced for summer 2018.
According to developer Trion Worlds, they listened to the wishes of the community and want to give players the Defiance experience they have long wanted.
The new technology allows the team to implement features and upgrades that fans desire. The action can now become much larger than in the original version.

Defiance 2050 will also advance the timeline. The game is said to take place 4 years after the original Defiance.
Trion Worlds emphasizes: Defiance 2050 is much more than just a graphic remaster. They have improved many systems to provide players with the “definitive Defiance gaming experience.”
