The greatest danger in Minecraft will soon be significantly less dramatic. With this new mob, you can ride over lava and simply defy the danger.
In Minecraft, there are pretty much exactly two dangers that give players sleepless nights and repeatedly cause unpleasant surprises. One of them is a creeper that appears out of nowhere – even if it is sometimes helpful – and the other is lava flows. But at least the danger of lava will soon be no longer an issue, as a new creature allows you to ride over lava.
Strider in Minecraft – How they help you
What are Striders? Striders are creatures with long legs that spawn in the Nether. They are the only neutral entities in the Nether so far. Striders are capable of walking on lava without taking damage. On land, they are significantly slower.
Where can Striders be found? Striders are creatures that only spawn in the Nether. They appear at a height of 31 or lower and exclusively in lava.
How can you ride Striders? To ride a Strider, the player must equip it with a saddle. However, Striders cannot be directly controlled like horses but rather behave more like pigs with saddles.
In a similar way, Striders can also be controlled. For this, you need a warped fungus stick. This is a fishing rod combined with a warped fungus. Holding this while sitting on the Strider will make the Strider always move towards the warped fungus.
With this technique, it is possible to cross large lava lakes unharmed – provided you are not attacked by ghasts or other creatures.
You can also bring the Strider through the Nether portal to the overworld and use it for lava lakes there. But beware: Striders take damage when they come into contact with water. This applies to both water blocks and rain.
Striders are not yet in the game, but they are part of a larger Nether update that also brings along the gold-hungry Piglins. Anyone who wants can see the Striders already in the snapshot version on PC.
