In Minecraft, wheat is an important early resource for making bread and regenerating health. But how long does it take for seeds to grow into fully developed wheat? We answer that question here.
What are we showing you here? In this article, we will answer the important question of how long it takes for wheat to grow. We will show you the different phases and how many minutes you need to efficiently harvest the wheat.
Since you can find wheat seeds right at the beginning of a Minecraft world, wheat is especially suitable for beginners. Here, we show you what you need to know as a farmer and how you can use the wheat.
Growing wheat – How long does it take?
Here’s how it works: When you break the grass blades found on dirt blocks in Minecraft, you have a chance to obtain wheat seeds. If you then use a hoe on a dirt block, it will become a field where you can plant the wheat.
This is how long it takes: It takes about 31 minutes (approximately 1.5 days in Minecraft) for a wheat field to grow from the planting of the seeds to being fully grown and ready for harvest (via Minecraft Fandom). However, this is just a guideline, as various factors can influence the growth process.
Keep in mind that you can shorten the growth time of plants with bone meal. Simply apply it to the respective plant to speed up its growth.
There are this many phases: From “Just planted” to completely ripe for harvest, there are a total of eight growth phases for cultivated wheat.
Harvesting wheat: If you harvest the wheat only when it is fully mature, you will receive one wheat and one to four seeds when harvesting. If you harvest the wheat before it is fully ripe, you will only receive one seed and no wheat.
You can then make bread, cakes, cookies, or hay bales from the harvested wheat.
Growing wheat with water and light – How does it work?
What you need to consider: You must definitely plant the seeds on a field. That is, dirt that you have tilled with a hoe.
Directly above the plant, the block should have a light level of at least 9. Keep in mind that this does not have to be sunlight; it can also be provided by torches. This way, wheat will grow at night and underground as well.
Additionally, the wheat should be growing on hydrated soil. It is advisable to place a water source nearby or build right next to water.
