The weather in Germany has been treating us well for weeks. But is this affecting your gaming behavior?
Gaming indoors in the heat: Temperatures above 30°C have been the norm in many regions of Germany in recent weeks. It is actually nice to let the sun shine on your belly at the swimming pool and not feel cold outside in a light shirt even in the evening.
But you have arrived here at Mein MMO because MMOs and other online games are dear to you. Is the practice of this passion suffering under the heat?
Several hours in raids, or just “light gaming”?
In the gaming community, people are dealing with the current summer temperatures in various ways. For some players, it is simply too hot – they do not want to sit at the PC in this heat and stick to the chair back. Others show no mercy, gaming is the priority – even at 35°C in the room. And then there are players “in between”.
You can observe three groups:
- Sun instead of PC: This group of gamers is really enjoying the warm weather. They consciously forgo gaming sessions and prefer to go outside.
- Prefer only short rounds: When the heat builds up in the gaming room, motivation to try a boss fight over and over for four hours drops. Then it’s better to game less or only in short rounds. One round of Fortnite, a quick match in FIFA, or completing a small dungeon in the favorite MMO.
- The heat leaves them cold: These gamers also play the longest raids and are not distracted by the temperatures at all. What are cool drinks and fans for?
Do you belong to one of these three groups? Can you even “seriously” game in the heat, or do you prefer to wait for cooler temperatures and enjoy a little break now?
This is what it looks like in our editorial office:
- Irie does not play less. She is sensitive to the sun and, according to her own statement, “catches fire after 10 minutes in the sun.”
- Tarek chills by the lake in this weather – it is right around the corner. He plays less in this weather.
- For Cortyn, the weather has no impact. “I never game because I work hard all day for Mein-MMO.”
- Micha notices that she games “differently”. While she would still raid, she also enjoys playing casual rounds of Diablo III alone.
- Kevin is now, like Tarek, more often by the lake. Out of 50 hours a week, he now spends only 30 hours a week gaming.
- I, Patrick, game significantly less indoors in this weather. I prefer to be outside (and play Pokémon GO there) or sit on the terrace with my favorite neighbors and talk about games.
Do the temperatures also affect your gaming behavior?
