Mass Effect: Andromeda – Here is what the multiplayer looks like in the trailer

BioWare has released the first trailer for the multiplayer of Mass Effect: Andromeda. Fans of the series will feel right at home.

Anyone who has played the multiplayer from Mass Effect 3 will quickly find their way in Mass Effect: Andromeda. The fundamental gameplay has not changed much. A team of 4 people is still created to survive a total of 10 waves of enemies to successfully complete a mission.

Every few waves, there are specific tasks to spice up the game: sometimes a drone must be escorted, sometimes a specific area must be protected. Simple “bunkering down”, as was often the case in Mass Effect 3, should no longer be possible – at least not on the higher difficulty levels.

Successful completion rewards players with credits and experience points. With the experience points, players can unlock new abilities, similar to the main game: such as enhanced biotic effects or better tech attacks.

Credits, in turn, serve as currency for purchasing supply crates in the shop. These contain – like in the predecessor – either new or stronger weapons, medipacks, rocket launchers, or special types of ammunition that can be equipped for the duration of a mission.

According to the trailer, like in the predecessor, players will also be able to buy these supply crates with real money. However, if the distribution of credits per round is anything like it was in Mass Effect 3, there is absolutely no pressure, and everything can be solidly earned through gameplay.

Whether anything has changed in terms of gameplay and if the mode is indeed more dynamic than in part 3 will be discovered in just a few days.

Mass Effect: Andromeda will be released on March 23 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
