In fighting game tournaments, it’s not uncommon for absurd things to happen during and after matches. In a major tournament for Tekken 8, a bizarre incident occurred: An unknown player defeated a well-known pro but was subsequently disqualified for breaking the rules.
What tournament is this about? The CEO 2025 for Tekken 8 is currently underway. This is an important tournament for professionals, as the top 4 can qualify for the Esports World Cup 2025 in Saudi Arabia. Well-known names like Arslan Ash, Rangchu, and JDCR are participating.
But less-known players are also trying their luck and can even hold their own against famous pros. One such player called himself Joe Budden
(not to be confused with the rapper).
Disguised and masked as Dr. Doom, he played against the Pakistani pro Bilal, one of the best Bryan players in the world. To the surprise of many fans, Joe Budden won the match without losing a single round. However, he was disqualified shortly after.
He was disqualified for throwing toilet paper at the commentators
What happened? Joe Budden played the character Claudio and managed to win with an aggressive playstyle in the already quite offensive Tekken 8. A quite impressive victory, considering how skilled Bilal is with one of the best characters in the game.
You can watch the match on YouTube:
But the story doesn’t end there. After his victory, both players shook hands, and Joe Budden suddenly pulled out a pack of toilet paper and held it up to the camera. The commentators cut to themselves as the player suddenly appears and throws toilet paper at both commentators (Source: YouTube).
Although Joe Budden won the match, he was disqualified by the organization. This decision was not based on him throwing the toilet paper, but because he was in the backstage area. This is generally prohibited for players.
Joe Budden could have qualified for the Top 24
in the next round. Due to his disqualification, the player Raef has one less match. This is not the first time something strange has happened at a Tekken tournament. One player brought his dog: Player uses his dog as a coach at the Tekken 8 tournament, Tekken boss promises: ‘I will add him to the game’
