ARC Raiders has a big problem that is ruining the fun for many players. Marathon wants to do better and reveals how.
What is the biggest problem with ARC Raiders? Like most online games – especially multiplayer shooters – ARC Raiders also suffers from cheaters who gain an unfair advantage in battles through cheating software.
Especially over the Christmas holidays, the cheaters became a nuisance for many players. The Twitch streamer shroud complained that the developers had lost control over the game and announced a temporary break from the shooter.

How does Marathon want to be better? Bungie has published details about the anti-cheat measures of Marathon on X.com. There, the developers state: “Anyone caught cheating will receive a permanent ban from Marathon, without a second chance.”
What seems like a natural consequence for cheating from the player’s perspective became a problem for ARC Raiders: Embark faced criticism from many players in January because, for example, a screenshot on Reddit showed that someone was only temporarily banned and not permanently. Many asked, “If they cheated, why isn’t the ban permanent?”
Embark later announced that it would improve its anti-cheat systems and has since banned a number of cheaters, but it remains unclear how strictly the spoilers will be punished and whether permanent bans are now regularly applied.
What else did Bungie say about anti-cheat? The developer studio explained, among other things, that a system called “Fog of War” limits the effectiveness of cheats like wall hacks and “loot revealers.” This system restricts the areas of the map over which a player’s client receives information.
Additionally, the servers are constantly collecting data on everything players do. The gameplay will then be analyzed to detect unusual gameplay patterns.
