Mastering Elden Ring is a real challenge. A husband offered his wife a $1,000 bet if she succeeded. Now there is a result.
Some time ago, an Elden Ring fan drew attention to himself in the appropriate subreddit when he reported on a bet with his wife.
This was the bet:
- By the release date of the new DLC Shadow of the Erdtree, she was supposed to manage to ascend to Elden Lord.
- She was not allowed to play online, so no assistance was allowed.
- It was about 1,000 Euros.
How did the bet turn out? The wife managed to finish Elden Ring – and that, even though she is not a “seasoned gamer,” as her husband reported on reddit. That is why he was actually quite optimistic that he would win the bet.
However, he doesn’t see it as a genuine defeat, as he told the portal GamesRadar, because fundamentally, he just wanted his wife to try the game: “It was definitely an excuse, and it was worth it. I enjoy watching her play, and I wanted her to have an experience I had, ” said the player named “Jamer”.
But how did she manage that? Elden Ring is certainly not a typical beginner’s game. She also reported how it was done in an interview with GamesRadar.
High level to tackle Elden Ring
As the woman recounts, it was quite “painful” and there would have been a rage quit every day, but she kept coming back. She actually doesn’t play that often, so it was difficult for her to grasp everything happening on the screen.
But Elden Ring wasn’t difficult enough to make her give up. Instead, she aimed for a build with high stats that was able to destroy more or less everything in one hit: “I basically have no gaming sense, like dodging and shielding, so I over-leveled to oneshot enemies.”
Jamer also reports that his wife spent about 40 of the 99 hours she needed in total just leveling up, collecting runes, and continuing to work on improving her stats.
In battles, she had a shield, but she didn’t use it against bosses. Instead, she used heavy attacks and spells: “I had a shield in hand, but I never used it during the boss fight,” she says. “I only used heavy dexterity attacks and spells. The shard spiral saved my life in the end to defeat the Elden Beast.”
Particularly difficult for her were Radagon, the Elden Beast, and the Fire Giant. She struggled a long time with the latter, but when she defeated him, her husband already suspected: This is something for the bet.
When she finally defeated the final boss of the game, Jamer was in the next room and came over when he heard the cheering: “I celebrated with her, addressed her as ‘Elden Lord’ and thought about how I could hand her the reward.”
Lastly, a streamer also drew attention to himself when he took on Elden Ring: Kai Cenat on Twitch embarked on a journey through the Lands Between and took over 165 hours and over 1,700 deaths for his complete run. The whole thing turned into a large event on Twitch, and fans delightedly watched as the game repeatedly pushed the streamer to his limits. What experiences have you had with Elden Ring?
