The Elder Scrolls Online is not at rest on PC and Mac after the release of Greymoor. After the servers have been down for maintenance every day since launch, today is no different, and the developers must once again apply a patch to fix the last issues.
How long will the downtime last? Once again, the ESO PC servers are offline, and no one can log into the game and explore Greymoor. According to ZeniMax, the maintenance should last from 08:00 to 10:00 AM our time on May 28, 2020.
Login and performance issues are the cause of downtime
How did the launch of Greymoor go? Since the launch of Greymoor, the major Skyrim expansion for ESO, the game has not found rest:
- At the launch on May 26, no one was able to play at all.
- Later, some people managed to get into the game.
- Some players who had purchased Greymoor were unable to access it.
- Others who had not purchased it suddenly had access to Western Skyrim and even preorder bonuses.
- Then everything was shut down again for maintenance.
What is behind the repeated server maintenance? This has repeated almost every day since May 26, with maintenance occurring repeatedly to apply hotfixes. Today is no exception. Because some players are still complaining about difficulties logging in. Sometimes you may be stuck on the loading screen endlessly or have other login issues.
Other players are reporting terrible lag issues that make combats virtually impossible. Everything ran smoothly before Greymoor, now it is a disaster. Additionally, there are bugs that prevent progress in the main quest.
Whether Zenimax will fix all these issues with the current patch is unclear. According to the forum, though, the problem with the login errors is likely to be addressed in the update. If the update raises new issues, we will report on that here.
