Throne and Liberty was seen as a great hope for 2023 by many MMORPG fans. This morning, closed beta tests began, and some players are far from thrilled.
What is Throne and Liberty all about? The game, originally titled “Lineage Eternal,” failed a test in 2017 and was subsequently revamped over several years. Thus, the new project named “Throne and Liberty” was created.
After the announcements and the epic trailers, players expected a breakthrough or at least a title that could thrive successfully for many years.
However, since the beta test in South Korea, it does not look that way: Throne and Liberty is being heavily criticized.
What disappoints the players? In a YouTube video by “Neeko2lo,” you can see how his game character automatically hunts and kills wolves. Meanwhile, “Neeko2lo” is standing in front of his desk, wearing a clown nose and wig. He speaks into the camera:
Hello guys, we are currently in the game Throne and Liberty, as you can see. It’s a highly dynamic and effective battle, and we are cheering on my character because I can’t do anything yet. So we give him moral support with a clown wig to help him hunt wolves even faster.

The automatic hunt function seems to be the most criticized because: The game character hunts, collects, and moves completely on its own, without any active intervention. It sounds somewhat like a relief from work but at the same time takes away a large part of the gameplay that makes such games what they are – especially when it comes to fighting.
In a Reddit thread, it is described that after character creation, players can automatically pursue quests without having to do much. Even the necessary travel distances are handled by the character independently. In an area for leveling, you encounter wolves that you need to kill to level up, and the game does that automatically as well.
The website MMORPG.org.pl has summarized further criticisms of Thrones and Liberty. Thus, players are particularly bothered by the unimpressive graphics, the weak combat system, the undemanding tasks, leveling through quest grinding, and a pay-to-win option that allows leveling even when logged out.
Not the best outlook, especially since the latest information from leaks and interviews did not sound so good.
