The Poro King in League of Legends now has very special Poro-Snax. Leya has tested them: What do they do exactly and how can you use them best?
For those who don’t really feel like the stress in the Rift during the contemplative Christmas season, the fun snowball fight with the Poro King might just be the right thing: The Legend of the Poro King is back!
This time, however, the fluffy king is bringing something new to LoL, namely four different Poro-Snax. These Snax are not ordinary Poro treats, but powerful weapons in the fight for the Nexus. Let’s take a closer look at them.

When should you use which Poro-Snax in LoL?
The Poro-Snax each have their own strengths and are particularly suited for certain situations. You can find the Snax in the shop, and you can only hold one of the treats. Once you have hit your opponents with 10 snowballs, or 10 Poros, the Poro King appears. You can feed him your chosen Poro-Snax, which grants him new special abilities.
Frosted: Iced-Snax
The Iced-Snax is particularly useful when you want to move forward with the king undisturbed. If you feed this to the Poro King, he will spit out ice bombs that deal magic damage. He can be compared to many small Ziggs ultimates that deal more damage in the middle than on the outside. The Iced-Snax is most effective at long range, as it keeps opponents away from you.
While the opponents are busy dodging the ice bombs, you can leisurely continue marching with the king. So, do not use the Iced-Snax when you are near a tower or the opponents are nearby. There are better Snax for that.
Super Spicy: Super Spicy-Snax
This fiery Snax deals true damage to champions and towers. If the Poro King devours the Super Spicy Snax, he becomes a flamethrower and is excellent when towers or enemies are directly in front of the king.
It really brings you nothing if there’s nothing in front of the Poro King – then he spits his strong fire breath into the void. Always save the Super Spicy Snax for an attack on towers or when many enemies are rushing at your king. By the way, inhibitors and the Nexus do not take damage from this Snax.
Espresso: Espresso-Snax
The Espresso-Snax perks up the Poro King and makes him bounce through the air. Once the king has sampled this Snax, he jumps forward and knocks back all enemies he hits. After that, he hops back and receives a large shield.
I found the Espresso-Snax to be the most difficult to use effectively and surely wasted it a time or two. However, it is probably most useful when the opposing team is hard focusing the Poro King and you want to push them back. You should rather not use the Espresso if you intend to push the enemies out of your own team’s attacks. Think of a Ziggs ultimate, which might not hit optimally as a result.
Rainbow Party: Rainbow Party Package
This is my personal favorite among the Poro-Snax, as it is not only fun and colorful, but it also draws all enemies toward the Poro King. If you give your king the Rainbow Party Snax, he launches his loyal mini-Poros at your opponents. Once they have reached the end of their colorful journey, they return to the Poro King and take all opponents with them.
The party can best be started with this Snax when enemies with low health want to run away from you. They will be pulled back towards you and are not safe even behind their tower. This Snax works best at a distance. If the enemies are already near the king, you can better use the Super Spicy Snax.
Use the Poro-Snax at the right time in LoL
If you want to use the Poro-Snax effectively, you should focus on the right timing. In general, I have the impression that the fiery Espresso-Snax is best used at short distances, as it deals so much damage and melts towers. The Iced-Snax is okay at a distance, but does not deal much damage.
It is most useful when no opponent is in sight and you want to keep the enemy team at bay. I only find the Espresso-Snax really helpful in very specific situations in LoL and would often give priority to the Super Spicy Snax at short range. The Rainbow Party Package does not let your opponents escape with low health, but should not be used directly at the enemy tower.
What do you think of the new Poro-Snax? Have you discovered any other strategies with them than I have?
