With a 19-second teaser trailer, Riot Games now announces that an animated series based on League of Legends will premiere on the streaming service Netflix in autumn 2021. We compile what is already known about the LoL series on Netflix at MeinMMO.
This is the announcement: LoL has released a 19-second trailer for the Netflix series “Arcane”, although a few seconds of that are spent showing the Netflix logo.
The key message is: The animated series, introduced by Riot Games for the 10th anniversary in 2019, is coming to the Netflix streaming service in autumn 2021.
The news about the trailer on YouTube outlines the storyline:
“Arcane” is a new animated series from the creators of “League of Legends”. Set in the utopian city of Piltover and its oppressed district Zhaun, the story tells of the beginnings of two legendary LoL champions and the power that will divide them.
From the Netflix trailer
Arcane apparently revolves around the LoL sisters Jinx and Vi
What we know about the plot: Piltover is a developed city in the world of LoL, inspired by steampunk. Zhaun is a sprawling district beneath the city, where quite eccentric characters reside.
It seems to be about the sisters Jinx and Vi:
- Jinx is quite a crazy lady in LoL with a strong preference for firearms and a punk style – she is described as an “impulsive criminal from Zhaun”. She somewhat resembles Harley Quinn from Suicide Squad.
- Her sister Vi also started as a criminal in Zhaun but has now made it into the upper world of Piltover. She uses enhanced, gigantic fists and is affectionately called “Fat Hands” by her sister Jinx.
It seems that Arcane will revolve around the story of the two unequal sisters and the uneven cities.
When is it coming to Netflix? In autumn 2021. There is not yet a specific release date for the Netflix series Arcane.
Are there any other videos about the series? Yes, in October 2019 the series was first introduced, on the occasion of Riot Games’ 10th anniversary.
Fans hope: Arcane features their favorite LoL champs
This is what’s being discussed: The first reactions in LoL mostly revolve around every player wanting to see their favorites in the series:
- One person says that characters like Camille, Warwick, or Viktor must definitely appear in Arcane. Hopefully, the series won’t just focus on “fan service”.
- Another user says: Hopefully, they will show heroes who are not sexy boys or girls. He hopes for Dr. Mundo and Tahm Kench.
- A third user says: He doesn’t care about any of that; Riot Games should first get the balance right in LoL.
