As a MOBA, League of Legends is a complex game. You not only have to learn the different champions, but also the tasks of the roles, objectives, or proper farming. If you no longer feel like that, you can look forward to a new game mode.
Which mode are we talking about? Riot has announced how it will continue after the first season of 2025. Once again, the theme of the season is changing. Instead of the bloodthirsty Noxus, it’s now about the beautiful soul blossoms from Ionia.
In addition to a new map, a new battle pass, and other gameplay adjustments, a new mode is also coming into play: Brawl. The mode seems perfect for people who are no longer interested in complex systems.
Casual Brawling
What kind of mode is Brawl? In Brawl, you play in a 5-person team against another 5-person team. For this, there is also a new map that is less strategically
structured than the familiar Summoner’s Rift. This is also due to the objective; you do not have to destroy a Nexus, as the main source of inspiration for Brawl was the Team Deathmatch mode from various shooters.
- Each team starts with 250 health. The team that reaches 0 first loses.
- To achieve this, there are several ways:
- Kills or assists deal 5 damage.
- If the opposing team does not have low health, kills on minions deal 1 damage.
- If minions are sent through the Bandle portal of the opposing team, that also deals 1 damage.
- There are no objectives like towers, dragons, or the Nexus.
On the new map, there is a shorter lane in the middle, which has a portal on both sides. There is more space to fight up and down, but also to surprise opponents. You can also secure a strong buff there.
You can see what the new map looks like here:
They also want to reduce frustration; if one team is too dominant, you can always teleport back to buy items. After a complete team kill, the defeated team receives a buff that increases the damage dealt and reduces the damage taken. This aims to prevent a deficit from feeling as frustrating as in other modes.
Brawl seems to become a mode similar to ARAM, where you just jump in and play a bit casually. However, we will have to wait and see how it actually looks in practice. The mode is set to come to the live servers with patch 25.10, which is expected on May 14, 2025. Last year, Riot was able to please many players with a new mode: League of Legends is experiencing a third spring thanks to Arena and Swarm, changing its strategy for the future
