After the huge success of the Netflix series Arcane, fans are now eagerly waiting for the 2nd season from the world of League of Legends. The hope was to see the first episodes of season 2 of the LoL series by the end of 2023. However, it seems that this will not happen, as was revealed in a new interview.

This info is now available: In an interview with the Chinese website Bilibili, Riot CEO Nicolo Laurent discusses the future of Arcane (via bilibili.com, at minute 18:30). There, the CEO confirms: Yes, there will still be a second season of Arcane.
A fan asked on the Chinese social media platform Weibo when the season will be released. Laurent’s response: ‘It’s not finished yet […] and unfortunately, it won’t be this year anymore.’
Season 2 of Arcane will therefore not premiere until 2024 at the earliest. The reason for this is that Arcane was simply too successful. However, there is still some good news.
Arcane: Season 2 not until 2024, the first episodes are already finished
Laurent explains that the success of Arcane has significantly raised the expectations for season 2. These now have to be met, which is why the production will take longer.
Laurent says: ‘You want this quality and we don’t want to rush. This takes time.’ Had they known earlier how well season 1 was received, they would have started production of season 2 sooner. The studio is now paying the price for that.
However, Laurent has already seen the first 3 episodes of season 2 before his flight to China. The CEO does not go into detail about the content, but emphasizes that they want to deliver quality.
A specific date is still missing. Season 2 of Arcane will not be released before 2024.
