How many champions are there currently? Currently – on September 18 – there are 165 different champions in LoL.
The last new champion was released on September 13 and is named Briar. However, her start was not so good and she currently has the worst win rate. In 2023, two more new champions are generally expected – a new midlane mage and a top laner from Freljord.

Which role is the least common? Many champions in LoL are very flexible and can be played in multiple positions. Gragas, for example, can be played top lane, mid, or jungle.
Nevertheless, there are statistics on which position has the fewest champions. Currently, that is the bot lane. Whether classic marksman or mage, basically only 27 champions are suitable for this position. This is by far the lowest value.
