League of Legends is set to receive at least 3 new champions in 2020. Two of them have already been officially confirmed, while a leak has revealed details about Aidyn, the third champion.
Who is Aidyn? Aidyn is expected to be a new champion from the Freljord region. This is the northern, icy area of Runeterra, home to champions like Sejuani, Lissandra, and Ashe.
Several leaks from Reddit user RiotLeaks reveal this information. The account seems to have been created specifically for these insights. Leaks about new champions in LoL are usually rare. However, the shared content appears fitting, which is why we’re reporting on it.
What do the leaks show? The first leak consists of some short voice lines. From the tone, the character immediately reminds one of Braum, but in a darker version. He seems to be heavily scarred by war.
The second leak, on the other hand, showcases some concept arts surrounding the character. In the two images, one can see pickaxes or climbing hooks, of which apparently two are used directly as weapons.
There are no exact details yet about Aidyn’s appearance or his role in the game. A release for the champion also seems a while away, as Riot has already announced 2 new champions for a summer event.
Other champions are likely to appear before Aidyn
What has been announced regarding the champions? In a video in January, Riot Games presented plans for new and old champions in 2020:
- It started with Sett, the boss, who was released in January.
- He was followed by some champion reworks, including a small adjustment to Wukong, which directly led to a suspension in e-sports, and a rework of Fiddlesticks, which is being released this week.
- Two new champions are expected to be released during a summer event. One will be a jungler and has to do with flowers. The other is said to be a masked stranger who refuses to die.
What suggests that Aidyn will come later? The two new champions were announced for a summer event. This doesn’t really fit with Aidyn, a more icy champion.
Also, the descriptions of a “flowery jungler” and a “masked stranger” don’t really match the new character. Therefore, it is likely that Aidyn will not appear until late summer or fall.
Riot also wants to bundle new champions more appropriately, as was the case with Senna and her appearance with the band True Damage.
