In the upcoming Patch 6.12, the popular ARAM mode in League of Legends is getting a few changes!
Patch 6.11 has just hit the live servers, but the development team is already working hard on future changes in League of Legends (LoL). In ARAM mode, all players receive a random champion to play on a specially designed map. This map has only 1 lane where all 10 players meet.
To ensure this fun mode doesn’t meet the same fate as Dominion, the developers seemingly want to bring “fresh air” and have planned changes to items and buffs. Please note that these changes are currently on the PBE server and are not final yet.
New Aura: In the “Howling Abyss” you previously had an aura that granted increased mana regeneration, passive experience, and 50% reduced healing effects on allies. Additionally, this aura now grants 40% cooldown reduction!
The following items have been removed: Doran’s Blade, Doran’s Ring, Doran’s Shield, Ancient Coin, Nomad’s Medallion, Amulet of Ascension, Spellthief’s Edge, Frostfang, Queen’s Frost, Relic Shield, Targon’s Brace, Mountain Armor, Wicked War Axe, Arcane Tracker, Lightbringer, Entropy, Winter Orb, Horn of the Protector
The following items have been added:From these 3 items, you can only buy a maximum of 1 per champion. Additionally, the “Refillable Potion” and the “Corrupting Potion” have been added.
Changes to the Oracle’s Extract: The effect of this potion now lasts even through death. Additionally, it provides the function of the red trinket that shows you the shadows of enemies who are hiding in the bush.
Summoner Spell Clarity: This spell gets 2 changes in ARAM mode; 1. The mana restored to your own champion has been increased from 40% to 50% increased – 2. The mana restored to your allies has been reduced from 40% to 25% reduced.
Clear Path for Teemo in ARAM from League of Legends?!
If these planned changes really persist as they are currently on the PBE servers, then it will not only bring “Fresh Air” into ARAM games but also much more frustration (more than already), when facing a Teemo as an opponent. Only the Oracle’s Extract will then be able to unveil traps like those set by Teemo – and that is a huge buff for the little Yordle, who is already very strong in this mode.
Removing the support items is also a strong nerf for some champions because many survived (better) the early game because of them. I do not want to claim that the ARAM mode is “unplayable” without these items, but they are indeed hard changes.
Are you satisfied with these changes or do you think Riot is shooting itself in the foot with the latest changes (like the removal of Solo Queue)?
