NoWay and Tolkin are two well-known figures in the German League of Legends scene. At an event on Twitch, they were allowed to announce a special tournament where German teams like NNO or Eintracht Spandau will meet T1 and their superstar Faker. And both completely freaked out in front of the camera.
What an announcement that was! On December 9, the Red Bull League of Its Own
tournament will take place. The “old” NNO, which had played its way into the first German league with streamers like NoWay4U and Agurin, will face the well-known Korean team T1.
But other teams are also participating in the event:
- Eintracht Spandau, HandOfBlood’s LoL team, faces off in a derby against Berlin International Gaming (BIG) for a chance to play against T1.
- Three additional spots in the tournament are still marked with a question mark.
The event will take place live on-site in Berlin, and the tickets for the arena sold out in less than three hours. It is highly likely that the tournament will also be streamed on Twitch.
What was special about the announcement? NoWay4U and Tolkin got to officially announce the tournament in a livestream. And both completely freaked out because they are like little kids excited to compete against Faker and the other superstars.
You can see a clip of this in this Twitch clip:
I will touch Faker and get a tattoo
How do the two streamers react? Right after the trailer ends, NoWay and Tolkin jump and scream with joy. Both had known about the tournament for a while but had to keep it a secret, which they obviously found difficult. You can see how a “burden” is lifted from them and how much Tolkin is looking forward to T1.
He shows off his Faker shirt on stream and reveals that he even has T1 socks at home. He talks about wanting to touch Faker and get a tattoo. Additionally, he would be dissatisfied if there were no restraining order against him in the end.
NoWay, on the other hand, is particularly excited about the duel against Faker in the midlane. Tolkin tries to claim that position for himself, but the biggest German streamer for LoL clearly states:
No, I’m playing against Faker, you on the toplane. You can rot there.
However, the two share a small jab against their own team. They can’t really imagine that Karni (27) and especially their ADC Broeki (32) can stand against the strong botlane from Gumayusi (21) and Keria (20). Keria is considered the best supporter in the world and was even voted MVP in Korea in 2022.
Why is everyone so excited about T1? T1 is the most famous LoL team in the world:
- They won the World Championship in 2013, 2015, and 2016 and are the only team to have defended the title so far.
- They also achieved second place twice (2017, 2022) and reached the semifinals multiple times.
- They also won the Mid-Season Invitational twice.
In Korea itself, T1 has won dozens of titles. Most recently, they won the playoffs in Spring 2022 and finished first in the league in Spring 2023.
Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok has been part of almost every title. He has been playing for T1 since 2013 and is an absolute icon in League of Legends. Playing against him is an honor for many, which is clearly visible on NoWay during the announcement.
What do you think about the tournament? Are you excited for the event and which three teams should definitely participate? Feel free to write it in the comments.
However, around the live event in Montpellier, there was also bad news for NoWay. He was robbed, injured, and his watch was stolen. More about that here:
