Valorant has caused quite a controversy with the crazy dragons from the “Elder Flame” set. Many fans celebrate the skins, others are upset about the high price, and yet others find the skins irritating. However, the developers can imagine much crazier designs. Possibly in a cyberpunk style.
Which skins are involved? It’s about the ultra skin package “Elder Flame”. This was released on July 10, 2020, in the game and transformed four of your weapons into wild, roaring, and fire-breathing dragons! Since these skins are quite the most elaborate and crazy that there has been in Valorant, they belong to the highest price category as “Ultra Skins”. The entire bundle costs 95 euros, and many players find that far too much.
But some players are also bothered by the design. Some feel that the animations and the wriggling of the creatures are disturbing. Others have a problem with the concept that you would “insert” a magazine into a living dragon, and the trigger would have to be located somewhere in the groin area of the creature.
For those who reject these concepts, the following news will not be pleasing. Because the developers apparently have many more outrageous ideas for skins!
Developers can imagine even crazier stuff – Is cyberpunk coming?
What do the developers say on the subject? In an interview with Polygon, the developers commented on the creation of the skins and their further ideas. They reported that the skins were quickly conceived as an idea, but that the implementation posed significant challenges.
One major challenge was the thick sniper rifle, the Operator. The creature has wings, and when you fiddle with them, it would indeed cover half the playing field. They were close to completely dropping the currently very popular weapon until they found a reasonable solution.
In order for the weapons not to become an expensive option of “Pay2Lose” and pose disadvantages for the players, they had experienced players test the skins for hours in the top rankings until they had no concerns left.
Here’s how it might continue: In conclusion, the developers provided a small outlook on the future of the crazy skins in Valorant. Because those who found dragons totally crazy can look forward to even stranger ideas. The developers want to unleash their creativity in the event of success and good reception of the dragons.
However, they haven’t revealed exactly what they have in mind yet. But there are data miners for that…
This speaks for cyberpunk skins in a few weeks
What has been found out? The data miners from “Valorant Express” have dug through the game’s files. Deep in the data mines, they eventually found concrete hints of a package called “Cyberpunk”. This contains skins for the following weapons in the game:
- The fully automatic shotgun Judge
- The lightweight assault rifle Bulldog
- The heavy machine gun Odin
- The small automatic pistol Frenzy
- A knife
If this leak turns out to be true, the Judge and Frenzy will get a new skin again, as both weapons were already included in the dragon edition.
How do the weapons look? There is still no information on that. The cyberpunk theme, however, addresses clear conventions. So look forward to crazy neon color effects, lots of chrome, and analog cables!
Will the cyberpunk skins be the next ultra bundle? There was no information gained from the dive into the data shaft regarding that either. However, if the skins are indeed ultra edition material, they are sure to overflow with effects and crazy designs.
When could the weapons come? According to the data miners, the new skins should be released in about 2 weeks. That would be around July 24, 2020. But keep in mind that this is based on data mining rumors. In the end, there might not be any cyberpunk weapons at all.
If the leaked skins do come and spread more cyberpunk feel in the game, then Riot’s tactical shooter Valorant might be a good gap filler for all fans of the upcoming RPG monster Cyberpunk 2077, which unfortunately will not be released until the end of the year.
