With YouTube, you can earn quite a bit of money, at least some. A major tech YouTuber has now talked about his earnings. Although he made 26 million US dollars from advertising on the platform, that is just a tiny part of his income.
Which YouTuber is it about? Linus Tech Tips is one of the largest YouTube channels when it comes to technology. Since 2008, he and his team have been uploading videos about PCs, gadgets, or other technical aspects and has over 16 million subscribers (as of: December 6, 2025).
He also makes quite a few clicks; his largest YouTube video has over 23 million views. In an interview, he spoke about the channel’s earnings. Despite a high number, the YouTube revenues are actually not that much in comparison.

What does Linus Tech Tips say about YouTube earnings? In an interview with Jon Youshaei (YouTube), Linus Tech Tips, whose real name is Linus Gabriel Sebastian, talked about various aspects of the YouTube channel. Right at the start, they both discuss the statistics and revenues of Linus Tech Tips, which belongs to the Linus Media Group that Linus founded in 2012.
Linus shows Jon his statistics over his entire YouTube period. The channel has reached 9 billion clicks. The AdSense revenues of the channel during this time amount to approximately 26.3 million US dollars (around 22.6 million euros) according to the interview. AdSense is the income that channels make from the ads placed before and in the YouTube videos. This does not include product placements.
The video that is said to have made the most AdSense revenue is I love Building Computers
(YouTube). With 15 million views, the video is said to have earned 139,000 US dollars, which is about 120,000 €. According to Linus, he claims to have paid more in salaries for his employees during that time than he made with the AdSense revenue. Later in the video, his sources of income are broken down again:
- 55.4% from products
- 12.5% from completely sponsored videos or projects
- 11.6% from AdSense
- 9.2% from sponsors
- 7.2% from members on the FloatPlane platform (a content subscription platform by Linus Tech Tips)
- 3% from affiliates
- 1.1% from

A major disadvantage that Linus mentions regarding AdSense is that one cannot rely on it well during months with fewer clicks. On the other hand, he praises FloatPlane for being significantly more consistent. With the sponsors, Linus Tech Tips also has another buffer in case AdSense is not that reliable.
