As in Minecraft, in LEGO Fortnite, (almost) everything revolves around crafting. Especially at higher levels and when you want to enter certain biomes, you can’t avoid some items. Among them are the rare explosion cores. How to obtain them, you can read here.
Unfortunately, explosion cores are not all that easy to farm. You will need some patience and luck: explosion cores cannot be mined like other ores, but are mob drops.
Where do I get explosion cores? For explosion cores, you should visit the desert biome called Dürretal. By the way, you can also find Obsidian and Softwood there – two more important resources. For explosion cores, you will need to look for one of the dangerous lava caves and hunt for “lava rollers” underground.
Tip No. 2: Mark the entrance manually. The caves do not appear as such on your map.
Tip No. 3: Keep the fire weapons in the holster – the mob you are looking for is explosive.
The lava caves are often located beneath larger rock formations. Once you have entered them, you need to look out for the required mobs.
Which mobs drop the explosion cores? Your target is the lava rollers. When they die, they can drop explosion cores. This is in addition to the fact that you first have to dig them up from the ground.
The lava rollers hide in the ground and you cannot reach them. Their tactic is to appear unexpectedly when you are close enough. Their camouflage is really good, but you can recognize them by the flickering flames above them.
When fighting lava rollers, you always have to be careful to approach them cautiously and possibly take a little distance again. The mob has the unpleasant habit of blowing itself up – and you along with it.
What do I need explosion cores for? Explosion cores are an important resource for your crafting in the endgame. You need them to create a furnace, for example, with which you can smelt and process ores.
This helps you to craft stronger items. You also need explosion cores for items like the Inner Fire Charm
. This item increases your cold resistance, making it easier for you to stay in the ice biome.
