In Legends of Runeterra, the LoL card game, tournaments took place in Europe and North America over the weekend. A specific deck type became prominent, especially in America. With this top deck, you should also have good chances in ranked, as it is one of the currently best decks.
What kind of deck is it? In the “Principles of Strength Community Invitational”, on May 8th, 8 of the best Legends of Runeterra players from America and Europe faced off against each other.
Notable in both tournaments was:
- that the cards from the Demacia region had a large share of the victories. The 1st and 2nd places in America, as well as the 1st place in Europe, relied almost exclusively on Demacia.
- all decks emphasized control. Aggro decks had no chance.
If you got interested after the release of the LoL card game or are currently looking for a strong deck, we will introduce you to the deck of Prismaticismism, the winner of the tournament in America, in more detail. It is a midrange deck that is considered strong in the current meta (S-Tier according to Mobalytics).

Pro Player Focuses on Midrange and Champions Fiora and Vi

How does the deck work? Prismaticismism’s deck is a midrange deck. It values balance and is played more slowly at the start, unlike aggro decks.
The special aspect of midrange decks is the mana curve, which runs evenly. Your goal is to maximize mana usage in every round and bring new cards to the battlefield. The playstyle is correspondingly simple.
It is important for the deck that you manage your units well. Some of your cards require defeated units, like “Vi” or “Remembering”. Others, like “Banner Bearer of the Vanguard”, which gives +1|+1 to all your creatures on the board, prefer to have many living creatures.
Helpful for this are “Riposte” and “Blanksteel Guardian”, cards that can make your fighters immune to damage for an attack.
Which champions does the deck focus on? The focus of the deck is on the heroes “Fiora” and “Vi”. Fiora can theoretically win the game for you if she manages to kill 4 opposing creatures.
Vi, on the other hand, benefits from dead units on your side.
Why is the deck easy to obtain? While you need 28,600 crystals to craft the deck, which is quite a lot, 37 out of the 40 cards belong to the Demacia region and can thus be earned through a path.
Only Vi, the champion, needs to be crafted for real money or crystals.
Alternative Top Decks Focus on Demacia
How did the other decks from the tournament perform? The second-place player in America, Navioot, relied on a very similar deck (via Mobalytics). He also used 37 cards from Demacia and the heroine Vi, but he had Lucian as a second champion in the deck, making his playstyle somewhat more aggressive.
The winner from Europe, Szychu, focused on a deck consisting of Karma and Lux, where again, cards from Demacia played a major role. The deck emphasizes controlling the battlefield and has a significant peak in the mana curve at 4.
What about Elusives? On reddit, there have been ongoing complaints in recent weeks that especially the Elusives, the Uncatchables, pose a problem. They can only be blocked by other elusive units during attacks on the nexus.
In the “Principles of Strength Community Invitational”, players attempted to use such an elusive deck in Legends of Runeterra during both tournaments. However, they lost their best of 3s with 0:2 each time. In the tournaments and in high-ranked matches, players seem to handle this card type well.
