Officially, we don’t know much about the new Coop mode Spec Ops in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. However, according to a leak, this new mode should be quite cool and reminiscent of a shooter MMO like The Division 2. The Battle Royale mode may also play a role in it.
What is Spec Ops? Under this name, one knows a coop mode in the Call of Duty games from Infinity Ward, where you could play certain multiplayer-designed maps with a buddy.

At least that’s what the prominent leaker and YouTuber TheGamingRevolution claims. He supposedly knows what’s really behind the new mode and how it ties into the alleged Battle Royale mode.
Open World and Battle Royale – The Features in the Spec Ops Mode of Modern Warfare
What’s up with the Open World? The biggest highlight of the new Spec Ops is likely the Open World. It is said to be huge and allow gameplay like in an MMO shooter. Like in The Division 2 or Destiny 2, you should be able to move freely on the large map with your coop buddy.
According to the rumor from TheGamingRevolution, there will be up to 80 quests, events, and bosses. Missions are provided by well-known NPCs, including Captain Price.
Who can you play with in coop? According to the leaker, you will have the choice between 20 operators from the main game. Additionally, you can play as both Americans and Russians.
What does the coop mode bring? Besides the great fun you can have with a good coop partner in an open world, there are also tangible rewards in Spec Ops. When you complete missions, you can earn in-game currency that you can spend in other modes of Modern Warfare.
What’s up with the Battle Royale mode? The map already has a hint of Battle Royale in the coop mode, as you jump out of an attack helicopter over the large map without much equipment and have to gather materials.
However, Battle Royale fans will actually reportedly get their favorite mode. Because supposedly the open-world map is also the map for the BR mode, where 200 players will be able to shoot each other.
Will coop and Battle Royale be free to play? TheGamingRevolution also claims to have information on this. He suggests that the coop mode could be free to play. Alternatively, this might also be the case for the rumored Battle Royale mode.
