In Last Epoch, it is possible to build quite strong builds due to bugs – this may change soon. The developers have sought feedback from the community and are now planning bug fixes for builds that accidentally perform too strongly.
Due to a bug, you could build a strong build in Last Epoch, which actually wasn’t possible at all. For another crazy build, you didn’t even need weapons, yet you were still stronger than with most builds that require weapons. However, it is necessary to equip special gloves for this.
The developers of Last Epoch have asked the community for feedback and conducted a survey focused on bug fixes and balance changes. Their conclusion is: The bugs that allow for overpowered builds will be fixed.
The item factions help you acquire necessary items for your builds. We explain in the guide, which faction you should join. You can find out more about the factions in the video:
The community does not want overpowered builds due to bugs
What did the survey reveal? According to the developers, opinions diverged significantly on some points. Two areas that the community clearly desires are the following:
- The fixing of bugs that cause skills or items to be excessively powerful.
- A prior notice when a bug fix or balance change will nerf an overpowered build.
What are the developers planning? On March 11, the developers announced in the forum that they intend to tackle overpowered builds in Last Epoch with upcoming bug fixes. This week they plan to incorporate two major fixes into the patch – in addition to the change to the “Dive Bomb” ability of the Falconer.
The two bug fixes primarily concern the abilities of the Sorceress and the Runemaster. In their post, the developers emphasize that these are bug fixes:
In line with the initial feedback, we want to emphasize that these changes are being made as bug fixes and not as balance changes. Their purpose is not to balance builds with these passive skills or abilities, but to fix bugs that inadvertently affect their power.

Builds that do not owe their strength to game bugs will not be nerfed. Already on March 8, the developers wrote in the Last Epoch forum that they would “not make adjustments to skills and items that perform above average but are not bugs.”
How does the community respond? Under the forum post from March 8, several users are calling for various nerfs for certain classes, such as the Sorceress and the Falconer. Another user points out that all builds should be “playable and enjoyable”.
And someone writes that they should nerf the strong builds so that players have to “play”. This could refer to overpowered builds where players do not have to do much themselves because skills or companions do the work for them.
Many from the community reacted positively to the post from March 11, praising the developers and the planned changes. Several users write there “Great W!”, which means: big win (success).
A user writes in his comment: “Great W for Eleventh Hour Games here. The community has spoken.” Another user expresses in a comment his concern that they might “nerf builds into the ground.” Several users respond to him that it is not a nerf, but a bug fix.
To what extent the planned bug fixes will affect the strongest builds in Last Epoch remains to be seen. When the fix will be deployed this week is still unclear. Currently, mages and especially Runemasters seem to lead the top builds.
But Acolytes, in the form of Sorceresses and Necromancers, also feature prominently in many lists. You can find the best builds for each class here: Last Epoch Tier List: Best Builds & Classes in Endgame
