The Monolith of Fate is an endgame activity in Last Epoch. Here on MeinMMO, you will find out where to find this activity and how to increase the corruption to get better loot.
After the campaign, around level 50, the endgame in Last Epoch begins. Even within the campaign, you will reach the map section “End of Time” with the same-named waypoint on the main island. There you will also find the “Monolith of Fate” with a starting level of 58.
The “Monolith of Fate” is the starting point for a part of the endgame in Last Epoch with its timelines. Starting with the timelines is certainly a good choice to get into the endgame content with your character.
The Monolith offers various mechanics and rewards:
- the timelines consist of small “islands” (echoes) that provide you with specific loot, which you can recognize by a symbol on the echo on the map – such as daggers, idols, keys, or bows.
- after completing a timeline, you will receive a blessing, which grants your character permanent bonuses.
- with “corruption,” you increase the level and thus the difficulty, but also the rewards of the timelines. This is especially worthwhile on the “empowered timelines.”
Your faction also plays an important role in the endgame of Last Epoch:
How to gather Corruption
What is Corruption? Corruption is a mechanic in the Monolith of Fate to increase the level of timelines. This also grants you more XP and better loot. To collect and increase corruption, you must perform another activity within the timeline.
How do I collect corruption? The further you are from the start of the timeline, the more likely you are to see a so-called “Shadow of Orobyss.” This echo in the timeline looks different from the others.
While other echo bosses can only be fought at increased stability, the Shadow of Orobyss can appear anywhere in the timeline. If you kill the boss, the corruption increases and the network of the timeline resets – only do this if you do not wish to complete any more echoes on the current network. The stability and modifications of the timeline remain.
In regular timelines, the maximum corruption is capped at 50, while in empowered timelines, it starts at 100 and is unlimited. You unlock empowered timelines by completing the first three timelines at level 90.
In empowered timelines, the chance for rarer loot is increased even further. Once you reach these timelines, you can continuously increase the corruption and improve your drop chances. However, keep in mind that the enemies also become stronger and tougher.
Can I also reduce corruption? If the echoes become too difficult for you and you want to reduce the corruption, you can do so at the echo near the starting point of your timeline. There you will find a new echo with increased corruption, where you can reset the timeline and reduce the corruption.
Farming loot at increased corruption is particularly worthwhile
How does corruption affect the loot? By increasing corruption, you increase the chance for better loot, including unique and set drops. So if an echo with the Shadow of Orobyss appears in your timeline, it is definitely worthwhile to kill the boss.
In empowered timelines, increasing the corruption is even more beneficial, as it increases the chance for rarer loot drops. Furthermore, echoes with high corruption will be more likely to yield unique and exalted items. Exalted items are the purple gear that you need for crafting legendaries.
In empowered timelines, you receive the stronger form of blessings, and the bosses there drop certain uniques. Moreover, the “Shadow of Orobyss” drops certain uniques that require a certain amount of corruption in the empowered timelines.
How do I specifically farm for loot? In the timelines of the Monolith, you will find echoes with specific item drops. Thus, you can target your farming for loot – a player has created a map for this. Warning: However, if you die in an echo or leave it prematurely, you will not receive any echo rewards.
Additionally, the item factions in Last Epoch are a good way to farm for specific loot. In the Circle of Fate, you use prophecies for this purpose. At the observatory, you will see in the telescopes the prophecies that display various constellations. Each image belongs to an item group.
