The action RPG Last Epoch has had a tough time: Over 250,000 players have turned their backs on the game. But now the developers are announcing fresh content with a new update that brings one of the best features from Diablo 4.
What does the new update bring? Last Epoch will receive the new content update 1.1 Harbingers of Ruin
on July 9, 2024. This follows the game’s own roadmap and brings a lot of fresh content.
Among other things, you can look forward to the following:
- Harbingers
- New boss enemies within the Monolith of Fate
- Forgotten Knights Faction
- The more Harbingers you defeat, the higher your reputation will be in this new faction
- Pinnacle Boss: Aberroth
- Once you have defeated all Harbingers, you will unlock this new boss
- Evade – in English
Dodge
- a new movement maneuver
- Harbinger’s Needle
- A new item that gives you more
Gaze of Orobyss
when used
- A new item that gives you more
Especially the new maneuver Dodge is likely to please players. According to the developers’ blog post, it is one of the most requested skills and has long been an essential part of the big competitor Diablo 4.
Here is the trailer for the update:
Fallen Hard: Last Epoch has recently lost a massive number of players
What are the current player numbers? At launch in February 2024, Last Epoch started with over 258,000 players. In March, the numbers still held steady, before dropping to 28,000 in April.
Since then, the player numbers have steadily decreased. The current 24-hour peak stands at 4,030 concurrent players, according to SteamCharts:

Update 1.1 is the first patch since the release. Experience shows that player numbers usually increase significantly afterward. Recently, the survival game Palworld experienced this: With the release of the new update around Sakurajima, the numbers jumped from about 20,000 daily players to a new 24-hour peak of over 124,000 according to Steam Charts.
The developers of Last Epoch will also hope for many returning players.
What’s next for Last Epoch? The official roadmap of the game shows patches 1.1 to 1.4. With 1.2, Primal Hunt
endgame content will go live, 1.3 will bring a Monolith of Fate
expansion, and 1.4 will shine with a transmog system, new bosses, and new skill sigils.
Five months have now passed since the initial release and the first patch. If the developers maintain the update cycle, you can expect the next patches in December 2024, May 2025, and October 2025.
