The famous Twitch streamer and YouTuber Nicholas “Nickmercs” Kolcheff talked in one of his live streams about how often he gets swatted in a week and that 2 people ended up in jail because of it.
Who is the streamer and YouTuber?
- Nickmercs has 4.3 million subscribers on his YouTube channel, while he has 6.4 million followers on Twitch and over 27,000 people watch his streams on average.
- His YouTube channel has been performing a bit poorly for some time and he generates “only” around 4–5 million views per month. At his peak, views were over 30 million.
- However, he is still incredibly successful on Twitch. Nickmercs currently sits at 3rd place among all streamers with over 59,000 active subscribers, below only Casimito and xQc.
- Definitely a good investment on Twitch’s part, securing the streamer for the platform in 2021 so he wouldn’t switch to YouTube, as many of his colleagues did.

Nickmercs gets swatted 3 times a week, sent 2 people to jail
What is swatting? Swatting involves making a false call to the police, claiming that a person poses a serious threat or has committed a crime. A special unit then appears at the home of the said person, surrounding the alleged perpetrator with drawn weapons.
Swatting has become a popular method to instill fear in streamers or to play what is perceived as a prank out of boredom.
What did the streamer say? His viewers urged him to do a cooking stream with his wife Emumita Bonita. However, Nickmercs did not want to fulfill this request as he does not want to mix his online life with his private life.
You know I get swatted about 3 times a week? Literally. And I don’t want you to feel sorry for me; I just want you to understand that if you were in my shoes, you wouldn’t want to show your people in the livestream that often – it really doesn’t feel good.

Afterward, a viewer asked, “Still?”, and Nickmercs replied, “Yes, we’ve already sent 2 people to jail and I’m getting ready to do it again.”

In 2018, there was a swatting incident with the streamer (via YouTube), and in 2020, Nickmercs also talked about wild swatting stories from his front yard (via YouTube).
Even in 2022, it seems that swatting is not letting up for the big content creator – no wonder he wants to present as few private individuals as possible in his streams.
But it’s not only him who has swatting problems; the well-known streamer Amouranth has also mentioned that she has police at her house several times a week. Amouranth and the police probably address each other by their first names.
