The online action RPG Monster Hunter World (PS4, Xbox One, PC) will receive a major expansion called “Iceborne” in autumn 2019. The DLC comes with a new quest rank, new monsters, and presumably an ice map.
During a live stream, Capcom announced Iceborne for Monster Hunter World today, on December 10.
What is Iceborne? The DLC will be a massive expansion for Monster Hunter World, providing hunters with plenty of new activities.
The name “Iceborne” suggests that a winter area awaits players. In the past, fans have often expressed their desire for an ice map.
This is what Iceborne brings:
- A new quest rank
- New monsters
- New areas
- New moves
- New equipment
- New story
When is Iceborne coming? The release date for Iceborne on PS4 and Xbox One has been announced for autumn 2019. The expansion will be released for consoles on September 6, 2019.
What is the price of the expansion? This is not yet known. In spring 2019, Capcom will reveal the price. Players will need the main game to play Iceborne.
Is Iceborne also coming to PC? Capcom states that everything announced will also be available on PC. However, the PC version of Iceborne is expected to be released later than for consoles.
Will the DLC include the G-Rank?
There is a new quest rank: It was mentioned in the live stream that the new expansion has the scale of an Ultimate expansion – similar to what was the case with Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate.
One can imagine this as a G-Rank expansion. It seems that this will be a new quest rank that has not existed before.
What is the G-Rank? This is a level of the hunter rank that determines the difficulty of the quests and the strength of the monsters. The G-Rank is the highest rank in the franchise and defines the endgame.
We assume that the new quest rank will also have endgame difficulty. The monsters are likely to become significantly stronger in this rank.
