Thanks to numerous new pieces of information about the payment model of Throne and Liberty, it is now possible to infer how significant the disadvantages will be for players if they do not spend a single cent on NCSoft and Amazon Games’ MMORPG.
Just before the launch of the open beta of Throne and Liberty, publisher Amazon Games revealed for the first time what the payment model of the Free2Play MMORPG will look like at the global launch on October 1, 2024. On September 12, 2024, there was then another update from the developers about the auction house and more.

What can you spend money on in Throne and Liberty?
The monetization of the MMORPG is based on the following pillars:
- Sale of early access packages that promise up to five days of early access
- Sale of units of the currency Luzent for real euros
- Provision of paid paths for the growth pass and battle pass
- Sale of cosmetic items such as outfits, transformations, dyes and emotes through the in-game shop
Not included at launch is the optional subscription Blessing of Solisium, which is known from the Korean version of Throne and Liberty. Amazon Games has not stated whether the blessing could be reintroduced in an adjusted form at a later date.

What is the benefit of investing money in early access packages?
If you want to get started in Throne and Liberty as early as possible, you must invest money in one of three early access packages – five days of early start can be obtained this way. Also cosmetic goodies like skins, titles, emotes, but also some units of the real money currency Luzent. The prices are around 40 euros, 70 euros, and 100 euros.
However, Amazon Games intends to provide additional launch realms on October 1, where you encounter only characters created at the official release or afterwards. Therefore, the advantage of package owners is limited to the early access servers. What is the benefit of investing money in Luzent?
With the real money currency Luzent, you can buy items from the auction house as well as from the in-game shop or pay for the paid paths of the growth pass and battle pass. The good news: You can also earn Luzent.
- by selling items in the auction house
- by participating in certain activities like castle sieges or tax transport events
Those who play Throne and Liberty in an active guild and regularly master the corresponding content (or regularly sell something valuable in the auction house) should be able to earn enough Luzent to pay for the passes as well as a few investments.
Buying Luzent with real money is likely to be particularly interesting for players who do not have much time, are adventuring alone, or belong to a small, inactive guild, and who still want to afford the growth pass, battle pass, or expensive items from the auction house – such as loot from non-instanced content like world bosses.
In addition, players who want to make the most out of Throne and Liberty and efficiently obtain the best gear are likely to invest money in Luzent. Because only in this way will it be possible to quickly obtain materials for item upgrades or the best possible combinations of runes and resonance effects.
