After the unboxing videos of the PS5, we asked you how you feel about the size of the PlayStation 5. Over 3,000 people participated in the survey on MeinMMO. Here are the results.
What’s up with the size of the PS5? Last week, on October 27, 2020, first testers showed the PS5 in the unboxing. In front of rolling cameras, they recorded how they opened the console’s package and took out and set up the individual parts.
Many eyes, in particular, focused on comparison images of the PlayStation 5 alongside the Xbox and other consoles.
In images like the one from TheVerge, it is noticeable: Compared to other next-gen consoles, the PS5 is quite large.
We asked you what you think of the size
This was our survey: Since so many comments focused on the size of Sony’s PlayStation 5, we started a survey on MeinMMO.
We wanted to know from you: “How do you like the size of the PS5?” As of now (November 3, 2020, 3:00 PM), 3,179 people participated in the survey. Everyone had only one vote to cast.
Many of you were willing to share your opinions. And a large part is not satisfied at all with the size. The distribution of votes currently looks like this:
How do you like the size of the PS5?
- Not at all: 1,046 votes – About 34%
- Not so good: 617 votes – About 20%
- Okay: 375 votes – About 11%
- Good: 243 votes – About 7%
- Very good: 534 votes – About 17%
- I don’t care about the size of the PS5: 364 votes – About 11%
If you combine “Not at all” and “Not so good”, more than half of the survey participants find the design of the PS5 rather bad than good.
“Better larger and without heat problems…”
This is what MeinMMO users say: In addition to the voting, you also actively commented on what bothers or pleases you about the size of the PS5.
- tuShai writes: “Too big, the chat changes are anything but optimal. I’m really considering whether I should get a PS5 at all”
- Tony Gradius writes: “The thing is not big… Papi’s first Sony Betamax video recorder, THAT was big. Fits easily in my lowboard in white lacquer. Will also be a great decoration element next to its function, the console.”
- BavEagle feels that the PS5 is really big: “But that’s fine with me as long as the ventilation works and it doesn’t end up being an airport tower for jet fighters”
- DerAdler writes: “The Xbox Series S looks like a speaker, the X like some black wooden block or mailbox, and the PS5 looks like it’s been bent. But I’d rather have it larger with proper ventilation than have heat problems like last time. I’ll take the size in exchange for that.”
Although many do not like the size, they understand that such a design can occur due to heat issues. Despite the aversion, people are willing to accept a larger device that hopefully plays their favorite games without overheating.
