The start of the LCS was initially scheduled for June 1st, but it has been postponed due to some issues. Instead, today you can expect a LoL tournament with old pros who were once real celebrities in the LoL scene.
What’s going on in League of Legends right now?
- Originally, the start of the LCS Summer Split was set for today, June 1st
- However, pros announced a strike beforehand and wanted five demands met
- Riot Games then postponed the start by two weeks and made an announcement to the pros
So who will fill the evening program for June 1st?
Streamer has a bright idea: Even though the tournament’s original start date has passed, there will still be great LoL entertainment. Although not in the “true” sense, it will feature many familiar faces. They are at least well-known if you have been following the scene for a while.
Dyrus and Imaqtpie are playing for the LoL tournament
Who is hosting the tournament? The well-known streamer DisguisedToast. In a tweet, he announces: “Don’t worry, LCS fans – We’ve got it covered for tomorrow. DSG vs The Best NA Dream Team (Delta Fox).”
Who is playing? The Best NA Dream Team includes
- Dyrus in the Top Lane (31 years old)
- Many probably still know him from his time at TSM. Those who have been active in the LoL scene for a long time might remember his pillow, which he brought to some tournaments. He played for about a year in the Top Lane for Team Epik Gamer. He then switched to TSM in 2012. He played for the team for more than three and a half years. From 2015 to 2017, he was also active as a streamer for the team.
- Imaqtpie in the Mid Lane (31 years old)
- Many will still know him as one of the biggest streamers of League of Legends. In 2015, he regularly streamed for over 30,000 viewers during his LoL matches. He started his career in Team Dignitas in 2011, which lasted about three years in this team.
- Shiphtur in the Jungle (30 years old)
- He began his career at Team Dignitas in May 2014, which lasted over two years. He became known for his interesting picks and skills with mages.
- Scarra as Support (33 years old)
- Scarra became known in the LoL scene as a Midlaner for Team Dignitas. He played in the lane before Shiphtur joined the team and then switched to a coaching position. He remained in the LoL scene, like the other celebrities on the list, as an expert in official streams.
- Voyboy as AD Carry (28 years old)
- He was deployed as a player in Team Dignitas in 2011 and was active there for seven months. After that, he played for CLG and then began a nearly two-year career at Team Curse – initially as Top Laner, then in the middle.
They are playing against the new DSG team consisting of (via Reddit):
- FakeGod in the Top Lane (23 years old)
- Young in the Mid Lane
- Tomio in the Jungle (19 years old)
- Meech as AD Carry (21 years old)
- Zeyzal as Support (23 years old)
These players are primarily young talents, many of whom are currently playing in academy teams. This is also interesting because the strike in the LCS is focused on the preservation of these teams.
The pros from back then, whose every game I hardly missed, seeing them together again in a showmatch makes me very happy. And many more LoL fans should feel the same way.
And even if you don’t know the players from “back then,” you can look forward to great entertainment thanks to their personalities.
When is it happening? The showmatch is taking place tonight (on June 1st) at 11:00 PM German time (2 PM PST). Will you be watching the match live or as a VOD, or does only the LCS count for you and a showmatch cannot capture your interest?
