A new leak reports on the plans of Call of Duty. The game studio Treyarch might not bring new content to the franchise until 2024, but then it will be quite a lot including Warzone.
Currently, we are just before the release of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. It will be on October 28. In the CoD franchise, it is customary for different development studios to handle the development of each CoD installment. This way, a completely new shooter can be released every year.
This has led to a certain division in the community: some fans are more into Modern Warfare and the CoD games from Infinity Ward, while others prefer the work of Treyarch and Black Ops.
A new leak from a supposed insider, who has been providing reliable information for years, now suggests that Treyarch fans will have to do without new content until 2024. But then there will be a large amount coming.
We are embedding the latest trailer for CoD MW2 here:
New Treyarch CoD probably only in 2024, but with Warzone map
What kind of leak is this? The information comes from the Twitter account “@TheGhostOfHope”. The account has long been known for smaller, accurate leaks.
His tweets suggest that there is an insider at work here. The account claimed early on to have seen gameplay from the current CoD MW2. Additionally, “Hope” provided early information about the map of Warzone 2 back in February 2022.
However, these are still unverified information that have not been confirmed by any official source. Therefore, treat this information with some skepticism. Here is the tweet:
Tweet translation: “Treyarch is leading the work on map design for a new map for Warzone 2.0, which will be released alongside a premium release in 2024. Support studios are helping with the creation/placement of assets.”
By the way, there are already some leaks about this CoD 2024. Alleged concept arts are circulating that suggest a setting with desert flair. Furthermore, another known leaker, Tom Henderson, speaks of a setting in the future – but without jetpacks (via twitter.com).
What’s next for CoD? The future of CoD after the release of Warzone 2.0 on November 16 is currently somewhat unclear, aside from the announced mobile spin-off of Warzone.
For months, there has been a rumor that CoD 2023 could be put on hold. This rumor comes from the well-connected insider Jason Schreier, who enjoys a lot of respect in the industry. Although this rumor is already from February 2022, it is still considered possible, and in some ways even likely.
The responsible parties at publisher Activision Blizzard only issued a bizarre statement at the time, without revealing anything specific about release plans after 2022. So the topic remains hot, and MeinMMO keeps a close eye on it.
